Brunch to lunch duo!
Roger Nolan & Mitch Clarke, Brunch to Lunch
Saturday 9am – noon
It’s part of Radio Mansfield’s mission to nurture young talent, and one of our new additions to our program does just that. Experienced broadcaster and trainer Roger Nolan has teamed up with young talent Mitch Clarke to present a great new two hour show on Saturday mornings called Brunch to Lunch.
Mitch is a student at Mansfield Secondary College and was originally encouraged to get involved by Dallas Daniels – MSC drama teacher with her own radio show on Wednesday morning. To start with Roger was training Mitch for his own show, but Mitch has a lot going on with school, orchestra, Air Cadets and Junior SES, so when the Saturday timeslot came up they decided to combine training and broadcasting, with a “double hander” (to use a radio term!).
Mitch and Roger have worked together before; in MMuDS productions Lyfe of Bryan and Jekyll & Hyde. Mitch also plays trumpet in the MAD orchestra. According to Roger, Mitch’s talents and interests make him “a natural fit for radio”.
The show presents a mix of young and old and across rock, pop, reggae, jazz, swing blues, ballads and a touch of country. Everything from Beethoven to Bruno Mars. Hits from the dance floor cover all decades.
The show is inclusive and just having fun in the High Country.
Vale Chris Deutscher
Radio Mansfield volunteers joined family and friends at the funeral of Chris Deutscher on 30 May in Mansfield.
Chris was one of the founding members and original presenters at Radio Mansfield. His High Country show on a Saturday from 5 to 8PM was the station’s most popular show for many years. Chris was also a fire spotter at the Mt Buller tower with a reputation as one of the best fire spotters in Victoria. His Radio Mansfield family miss him greatly and offer their condolences to his wife Helen and daughter Samantha.

OB improvements for spring
Thanks to recent funding, Radio Mansfield will soon have better capability for outside broadcasting, from locations around Mansfield and beyond. Up-to-the-minute technology allows us to broadcast from events without needing to be in line of sight of the studio. Our new equipment and a renovated OB van will see us set for the races in November, Mansfield show, and more.
